Watson’s Greenhouse and Nursery — a South Sound favorite based in Puyallup for decades — is opening a second location March 18 at 3909 S. 320th Street. The new location will be smaller than Puyallup’s but will offer additional convenience for South King County residents and others who often travel to the flagship store.
At the new location, patrons can expect a large selection of indoor plants, pots, and outdoor plants that do well in the Pacific Northwest. Knowledgeable staff also will be on hand to assist.
When the pandemic hit, the third-generation local and family-owned business adapted with online ordering, delivery, and curbside pickups. Gardening has always been popular in the area, but the pandemic sprouted new garden lovers.
“Our employees are committed to making our nursery a destination for inspiration, as well as a plant lover’s go-to place for everything from trees to tillandsias,” said Wendy Wells, store manager of the new location. “Our company culture exemplifies dedication to family, commitment to quality, and a deep-rooted passion not just to share their love of plants but to help people design and create beautiful spaces that allow them to find comfort, joy, and hope. This is definitely a peculiar time, but hope grows in the garden of adversity.”
Watson’s first opened in 1974 as a U-Pick vegetable operation. Its retail business debuted in 1984. Over time, it has become a destination garden and lifestyle retailer where you can buy plants, gifts, garden furniture, and more.
The new store will be open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
