Looking for something to do this Memorial Day weekend that follows social distancing guidelines and also scratches your sports itch? On Monday, May 25, check out the fourth week of the six-week USL FIFA eCup, a soccer simulation video game featuring players from 32 soccer teams — including Tacoma’s men’s professional soccer team, Tacoma Defiance.
Each participating club has the opportunity to nominate a charity of its choosing, encouraging fans to support a local cause throughout the tournament. Tacoma Defiance has selected Big Brothers Big Sisters as the nonprofit it is supporting, because the team was “inspired by the work Big Brothers Big Sisters Puget Sound has been doing with the Emergency Feeding Program” to feed food insecure families throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
The tournament is being played over Xbox and can be accessed for viewing via the Tacoma Defiance Twitch channel. The time of the upcoming match has yet to be announced. Donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters Puget Sound can be made here.
