Calling all filmmakers looking to challenge their creativity and technical skills—the 3rd annual 72 Hour Film Competition is coming up! Presented by the Gig Harbor Film Festival, the competition challenges all participants to do all the script writing, shoot, light design, sound recording and editing of a 5 minute video in 72 hours or less. The filmmakers will also have to incorporate several common elements, for example, a specific prop or line of dialogue, that won’t be revealed to them until the beginning of the competition. With such strict rules, this event is sure to be a riot for both participants and audience members alike. The aim of contest is for lesser known film makers to gain some notoriety in the area and demonstrate their skills and creativity.
The competition is taking place over the weekend of September 14-16, and the films will be shown at the Gig Harbor Film Festival October 19-21. Professional filmmakers will act as judges and decide on winners in two categories: Youth, up to age 18, and Adult, age 19 and up.
Register for the contest August 17-31 at the Gig Harbor Film Festival office and find more information about the festival itself at gigharborfilmfestival.org. You can also receive up to date information about the competition on Facebook under Gig Harbor 72 Hour Film Competition.
