Travel North for These Hot Spots

Bellevue

Sinful smoked chicken and skating on the ice rink

Eat Here: Peony Modern Kitchen is a delight to both the eyes and the taste buds. We’re forever fans of dumplings, but you’d be remiss to skip its signature dish: Tea Smoked Chicken.

Do This: The covered ice-skating rink at Bellevue Downtown Park is a beloved 23-year seasonal tradition. Rent a pair of skates, and work up your appetite.

Snohomish

Grade-A eats and antique shopping

Eat Here: For breakfast, be sure to grab a table at Cabbage Patch Restaurant, which serves complimentary scones as a starter, and they’re so good! For a main dish, we were major fans of its chicken fried chicken. For an afternoon delight, wander down the street to Snohomish Pie Co. There will be a line, but it will be worth it.

Do This: The quaint city is an antique-lover’s dream. We’re especially fond of the five-story Star Center Antique Mall.

Issaquah

Seafood and star performances

Eat Here: Krawbar is an Asian-inspired seafood boil restaurant with anything from kimchi miso soup to crispy chicken wings.

Do This: Whether you’re a live theater fan or not, you will love Village Theatre in downtown Issaquah. Each production is spectacular, and everything is crafted from scratch by its staff, from the wigs to the sets.

Kirkland

High-brow cocktails and hiking

Eat Here: The bartenders at Le Grand Bistro are second to none. Anything you order will be fantastic, but we recommend the Tuxedo #2 — the martini’s sexier cousin.

Do This: Bridle Trails is a favorite among equestrians, but the trail system also is great for hikers and leashed dogs. Soak in the brisk air within this urban oasis.
