Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle Hosts Juneteenth Celebration

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is the day that marks the end of slavery in the United States 155 years ago. The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle has had celebratory programming throughout the week — which goes through Sunday, June 21 — that includes cooking a traditional Juneteenth recipe, classes and workshops, yoga, a call of prayer, and more. All events are online, save a Meals & Masks celebration in Tukwila on June 20 from 1 to 3 p.m., where you can pick up free hot barbecue, masks, hand sanitizer, and children’s books.
