Welcome to the South Sound, Thirsty Hound Drinkery!
On Feb. 5 of last month, the Thirsty Hound officially opened for business in University Place, and we are already so impressed with its delicious assortment of reasonably priced food and drinks. Located right off of Bridgeport Way and South 19th Street in what once was a cafe and bakery, this quaint little bar has a casual, laid-back atmosphere and is open to all ages.
The small, intimate location has a surprising amount of seating options for patrons, ranging from bar tops and tables to a fun, comfy lounge in the back with sofas, a fireplace, and a big screen TV — a perfect spot to grab some food, a drink, and kick back to watch a game. The decor includes an eclectic mix of various pictures from local artists featuring well-known musicians, athletes, and famous Tacoma landmarks.
Offering an assorted selection of alternating beers on tap, wine, and specialty craft cocktails, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy. As far as food, the menu includes a variety of shareable plates comprised of hotdogs, hummus plates, soft pretzels with cheese, as well as other larger entrees. As for dessert, the two options include a delicious house-made key lime pie and a jumbo cookie a la mode. Not to mention the rotating daily specials offering different tasty alternatives, all at reasonable prices.
The Thirsty Hound is open Sunday through Thursday from 3-10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 3-11 p.m. with a weekday happy hour from 3-6 p.m. (or all day on Monday). Be sure to check out the Thirsty Hound and see what all the buzz is about at this new U.P spot!
