The Mary Bridge Festival of Trees runs through Dec. 4 at the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 2 there will be a special “sensory-friendly” day for people to come enjoy the trees minus the live entertainment.
“With the incredible occupational programs at Mary Bridge, we thought it would be a great way to encourage those families to attend but allow them to have an environment that was more friendly to their needs,” said Festival of Trees chair Marquelle Parks Butler.
Her daughter was an occupational therapy patient at Mary Bridge when she was younger, and like many children, would have benefited from a quieter public day at festival. There are several events surrounding the Festival, which is celebrating 30 years. In the past 29 years, more than $27 million has been raised to support young patients at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma.
