Tacoma Refugee Choir Encourages Public Health Guidelines in Song Release

The Tacoma Refugee Choir and Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department recently released the first of three original songs encouraging community members to follow public health guidelines over the holidays. Written by Providence Kamana from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, “We Will Overcome (Tutashinda)” features five languages and draws on themes of hope and perseverance in the face of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The lyric video for “We Will Overcome (Tutashinda)” is available on YouTube now.

There will be three additional releases over the coming month and will include a fully animated music video for “We Will Overcome (Tutashinda),” a new Spanish song “La Salud Collectiva,” and “Put It On (Ufimata).”
