The Tacoma Arts Commission recently awarded $114,000 in Community Arts Projects funding to 27 Tacoma organizations in support of 2021 public outreach projects in the fields of culture, dance, film, literary, music, theater, visual, and cross-disciplinary arts.

“We are honored and thrilled to support the efforts of organizations and groups funded by the Community Arts Projects program,” Tacoma Arts Commission Chair Rosie Ayala said in a press release. “As we continue stepping into equity efforts, the collective recipients for 2021 reflect the diversity of our city and celebrate honored traditions, stories, and practices. We fully acknowledge that equity efforts are everlasting and we’re here to continue the work year to year.”

Funded projects include the production of five cultural and arts festivals; two dance workshop series and performances; one literary arts anthology; five youth education programs; three community engagement events; two multi-media workshops; two art exhibits; four music performance series; one film festival; one theater production; and one mural.
