Looking to spread the love this Valentine’s Day? Come share your weekend with the animals at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. To celebrate the holiday, the zoo will be hosting special events and exhibits sure to please visitors and animals alike. Throughout the zoo, animals will receive special Valentine’s treats, ranging from heart shaped goodies, to whipped cream and more.

A full schedule of Valentine’s activities is available online, and treats will be served from 11am to 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Special animal treats include heart shaped bites in the aquarium, Valentine’s gifts for polar bears, elephants, lemurs, leopards, and red wolves; and a special up-close wilderness encounter at Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater at 1:30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors are also encouraged to stop in for a visit with the Sumatran tiger triplets who are now on display and ready to play. The exhibit opens at 11am every day, and are open to all who want watch the three cubs in the Asian Forest Sanctuary Exhibit.

If you’re seeking a more up-close experience, the Northwest Trek and Wildlife Park will be hosting a Kids n’ Critters weekend perfect for the whole family. Come in between 11am and 2 pm any day of the long weekend to enjoy special activities, workshops, and free admission for children 12 and under. Families are encouraged to try out the Discovery Tram Tour, and see the moose, elk, bison and other native creatures roaming the park.

Other activities will include trailside encounters with smaller animals, special workshops, and story time. Workshops range from native plant classes to birding and photography. For a full list of activities, workshops, and a schedule of times visit Northwest Trek Wildlife Park online.

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is open from 9:30am to 4pm Thursday through Monday. Northwest Trek and Wildlife Park is open weekends, Friday through Sunday 9:30am to 3pm. Both parks will be open for this President’s Day, to help families get outside and celebrate the long weekend.
