Get a sneak peek of the new Pacific Seas Aquarium at Point Defiance Zoo on Aug. 24 before it opens to the public on Sept. 7.
“We are pleased to invite our community to be among the first to see this beautiful new aquarium,” Larry Norvell, executive director of the Zoo Society, said in a statement. “The aquarium will be home to sea turtles, spotted eagle rays, and dozens of other species, helping connect guests with the power and fragility of the planet’s ocean.”
The Zoo Society’s VIP Tasting Experience will take place from 7-11 p.m. on Aug. 24 with beverages and small bites from local breweries and restaurants including 7 Seas Brewing, Heritage Distilling Company, Ocean 5/Table 47, Dirty Oscar’s Annex, and Lancer Catering. The event will also have animal appearances, live music, and of course, visitors will have the opportunity to be the first inside the Pacific Seas Aquarium.
The VIP event is a fundraiser for the Zoo Society, an organization that works with the zoo to conserve and educate the public. Ticket price ($500) includes all of the evening festivities, along with a one-year Vision Keeper membership to the zoo. This includes unlimited zoo access with six guest passes for each trip. Vision Keepers also receive 50 percent off Zoolights tickets, a 10 percent discount at the gift shop, and 20 percent off Northwest Trek Wildlife Park tickets.
Tickets are available to purchase at thezoosociety.org or by calling (253) 404-3651 no later than Aug. 22. Guests must be over 21 to attend.
