Fort From Home: Victorian Cooking

Nestled in Point Defiance Park, the Fort Nisqually Living History Museum offers workshops on lifestyle skills like curing meats, weaving straw hats, and cooking historical cuisine. In January’s virtual cooking series, participants will gain the skills to make decadent Dutch cheese. You’ll also learn how to adapt traditional Victorian cooking styles for modern-day kitchens. Cooks For Black Lives Matter

Cooks for Black Lives Matter delivers monthly produce boxes directly to your doorstep. Their boxes are chock-full of fresh, local produce, and can be tailored to meet both vegetarian and gluten-free lifestyles. Cooks for Black Lives Matter donates 85 percent of all proceeds to King County Equity Now, an organization committed to fostering leadership and developing sustainable food systems within underserved communities. The Soul of Seattle

In celebration of Black History Month, chef Edouardo Jordan and Northwest Harvest are launching this year’s virtual version of the Soul of Seattle. This event showcases Seattle-area Black chefs and restaurants, and provides participants with custom menus and engaging demonstrations. Funds raised by Soul of Seattle help sustain nonprofits like Mentoring Urban Students & Teens (MUST). Tickets go on sale Friday, Jan. 22. Click here for more information.
