Sea-Tac Airport Welcomes the “Snowball Express”

For the last 10 years, the Snowball Express has given children and families of fallen service men and women a special holiday trip.

The flight, hosted by American Airlines, will take approximately 1,700 children and spouses of the fallen to Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas for a five-day, all-expenses-paid holiday trip. The flight will leave from SeaTac early Dec. 12 and return on Dec. 16.

Guests of honor on the flight will receive a big greeting on arrival. Over the course of the trip, the group will visit the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, see a night of jousting at Medieval Times, and get a private concert from the Lt. Dan Band, featuring Academy Award-nominated actor Gary Sinese.

“Having the ability to bring these children together for five days, and realizing how significantly their lives change in such a short period of time, is very humbling,” said Francis ‘Buck’ Kern, executive director of Snowball Express.

The official airline of the Snowball Express is American Airlines.

“I volunteer each year to show these kids that we remember their parent and the ultimate sacrifice they made for our freedom,” said Dave Vinnedge, a St. Louis-based first officer and returning Snowball Express volunteer.
