Red Cross Helps People Affected by Western Wildfires

The recent series of historic deadly wildfires continue to consume millions of acres throughout California, Oregon and, Washington, forcing thousands of people to flee their homes. The American Red Cross has been there to help those affected by these massive and widespread fires.

While the Red Cross has and will continue to help those in need, it is looking for additional support. Donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to, and help people recover from these disasters.

“Here in Washington State in support of those facing evacuation orders in their communities, we housed 91 residents in a shelter and 200 residents across four hotels last night, including over 100 people in the greater Tacoma area who have been evacuated from their homes in Bonney Lake,” Daniel Wirth, American Red Cross executive director — South Puget Sound and Olympics Chapter, said in an email.

If you want to help people specifically affected by the California, Oregon, or Washington wildfires, you can write “California Wildfires,” “Oregon Wildfires” or “Washington Wildfires” in the memo line of a check and mail it to 1235 S Tacoma Way, Tacoma WA 98402 with the completed donation form.
