“In spring, it’s time for a treat,” said Elisa Marzano, owner and executive chef of Marzano Italian Restaurant in Tacoma’s Parkland neighborhood. She recalls how grilled octopus was a delicacy during her childhood in the Veneto region of Italy. Now, she serves this delightful dish at her restaurant as a nod to her childhood and to a Pacific Northwest flavor profile.
“We grill the octopus and serve it with purple potatoes, roasted red peppers, and a parsley-arugula pesto,” she explained.
This talented chef and her son, Brian Marzano, run the charming restaurant, housed in a 1940s Craftsman-style house they remodeled, retaining the cozy charm of the individual rooms and adding a large, private patio. “We offer classic Italian favorites, but we also offer unique dishes, like this one, for adventurous, travel-savvy diners.”
