Happy Hours

More affordable food and drinks

There are numerous reasons to attend a happy hour in town. Happy hours are for  those who want to unwind with a nice glass of wine or a cocktail after a long day. For others, they are a chance to get some delicious food at an excellent price. Sometimes happy hour is simply social, a time to see and be seen. Other times, it’s fun to go to a favorite, laid-back spot where all the locals know each other. Whatever your reason, happy hour is a great time for smiles.

From Olympia to Tacoma to Sumner, the South Sound is full of favorite dives, classy restaurants and hot spots with happy hours. Try one or try them all. Each and every one of the following has its own unique appeal. This list will get you started. Tell us your favorite happy hour below.

Cocktails from Hop Jack’s

At Hop Jack’s in Bonney Lake (plus five other locations), patrons get “all the best appetizers at a better price.” The French onion soup is the specialty and the tempura pickles and “flash”-fried buttermilk scallops are tasty treats. Follow the lip-smacking food with a swig from Hop Jack’s unique “Icy Drink” served in an ice mold or a frosty beer. Happy hour runs every day from 2 to 6pm and 9pm to close in the entire restaurant. hopjacks.net

Bumpy’s might not look like much from the outside, or on the inside for that matter. It is small, dark and packed every night with locals in the know. This is a quintessential dive bar where beer comes in pints or pitchers and the liquor is fully stocked. Bumpy’s also serves outstanding food from an impossibly small kitchen. Instead of a set happy hour, Bumpy’s has daily food specials at ridiculous prices and double pours of liquor for $5 all day, every day that keep the locals coming back night after night. 253.841.2931
