Pet of the Week: Maggie

Meet Maggie, this week’s Pet of the Week. Maggie is an 8-year-old pit bull/Boston terrier mix. She’s mostly white in color with a few adorable black freckles on her face and belly.

Maggie is goofy and affectionate. She loves to run around and play and has a special love of tennis balls. Because she enjoys going for walks and sniffing all the smells along the way, this pup would make a perfect hiking or adventure buddy. She loves people and will lean up against you for pets and snuggles. She won’t say no to a treat (or three), either.

Maggie was noted by our vet team to have a head tilt to the right side. While it’s super cute that her head is always cocked to the side (she looks inquisitive and curious), this could be a sign of an underlying medical condition such as canine vestibular disease. Her head tilt does not seem to bother her much, though sometimes she can lose her balance and stumble to the right while she is playing or chasing a ball.

Aside from the head tilt, Maggie also has dry eye and will need to be on daily eye drops. She is looking for a dedicated adopter who can ensure she gets all the love and care she needs to remain healthy and comfortable throughout her golden years.

Maggie will need a home with a securely fenced in yard, and would not do well in an apartment setting. She would do best in a home without cats and with no young kids under 12, as she can be overwhelmed with a lot of hustle and bustle. If you have the perfect home for this sweet girl, come in and meet Maggie today.

This week’s Pet of the Week, Maggie, is available for adoption from Kitsap Humane Society.

Kitsap Humane Society is a private, nonprofit animal shelter that rescues and rehomes more than 6,000 pets every year. The Silverdale-based organization has a “lives saved” rate of over 95 percent, and never euthanizes an animal due to lack of space. In addition to caring for and adopting animals, Kitsap Human Society also provides spay/neuter services to low income residents of Kitsap County and Animal Rescue and Enforcement services to surrounding municipalities.
