Meet this week’s Pet of the Week: Leia. Leia is a gorgeous, playful, Labrador retriever/Rottweiler mix who is about three years old. She’s looking for a forever home where she’ll be loved and showered with the attention she deserves.
The first thing to know about Leia is that she LOVES to play ball. It’s one of her favorite activities, and she’s an absolute pro at fetch. She brings the ball back to you, drops it, and uses those expressive eyes to persuade you to throw it again. Leia also knows “sit”, “stay”, “down”, and “come,” and is already housebroken. She is very treat motivated and would love to learn even more fun tricks.
Leia is friendly and playful with her favorite people, but she can be nervous and uncomfortable around strangers. She seems to be more fearful of men than women, so she is looking for an adopter who will be patient with her and give her time to build trust. She needs an adult-only home (no apartments please) with a large, fully fenced in yard, so she can play outside while remaining safe and secure. Leia needs to be the only pet (no livestock) in the home as well.
If you have the perfect home for this sweet girl, come in and adopt Leia today. Leia is available for adoption at the Kitsap Humane Society in Silverdale. You won’t find Leia in the main kennel, so if you’d like to meet her, please ask at the front desk.
Kitsap Humane Society is a private, nonprofit animal shelter that rescues and rehomes more than 6,000 pets every year. The Silverdale-based organization has a “lives saved” rate of over 95 percent, and never euthanizes an animal due to lack of space. In addition to caring for and adopting animals, Kitsap Human Society also provides spay/neuter services to low income residents of Kitsap County and Animal Rescue and Enforcement services to surrounding municipalities.
