Open-Air Indoor Dining is Open

Restaurants that meet certain “open-air” safety guidelines may open at 25 percent capacity in the South Sound and more. Many restaurants and other establishments with lots of windows and/or garage door walls (basically, ways to get air flowing and also social distance guests next to the open walls and windows) may offer seats.

Duke’s Seafood on Tacoma’s Ruston Way is excited to open to diners tonight, Jan. 15.

“We are excited to begin serving our guests with ‘open-air’ indoor dining and for the Washington industry’s progression toward safe indoor/outdoor dining,” said John Moscrip of Duke’s Seafood, with locations across the Northwest. “In addition, the outpouring of support and feedback from our guests has been unprecedented and we are thankful the open-air ruling will allow many bars and restaurants to increase seating, allowing us to increase our employment opportunities for our team members.”

Duke’s previously installed new air filtration systems in all of their restaurants to help increase safety against COVID-19 as well.

Other restaurants in the area that plan to have open-air seating include Cactus, and many restaurants also have added covered, outdoor dining options, including Tides Tavern in Gig Harbor.
