Newest Arrivals at Sea-Tac Airport

Waiting to board a flight at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) is about to become a lot more enjoyable.

At least eight new restaurants will open on airport grounds by the end of 2018, including Starbucks Evenings, Rel’Lish Burger Lounge, Le Grand Comptoir, Capitol Hill Food Hall, and Ballard Brew Hall.

And by 2020, a few more recognizable Seattle-area eateries will make their Sea-Tac debuts: Skillet, Sunset Fried Chicken, and Caffé D’arte.

“We appreciate the emphasis the Port places on partnership and championing the local, women- and minority-owned firms in our region,” said Sunset Fried Chicken chef Monica Dimas in a statement. “Our fried chicken makes an amazing first and lasting impression. We are thrilled to share our passion for food and this community with Sea-Tac passengers.”

Aside from the new restaurants, the airport will also welcome local brands Filson and Elliott Bay Book Company onto the premises.

“From kiosks to in-line stores, we are excited to offer customers more choices for dining and retail at Sea-Tac Airport, to build a platform for local chefs and shop owners who celebrate the Pacific Northwest, and to recognize equity and sustainability practices that passengers can feel good about supporting,” said Port of Seattle Commission President Courtney Gregoire.

As part of its ongoing Central Terminal Renovation Project, the airport will increase the number of retail and dining establishments from 85 to 135. Two new restaurants are already open for business — Floret by Café Flora and a 24-hour Qdoba. Several existing eateries have also expanded their hours to serve more of the 46.9 million travelers passing through Sea-Tac each year. Even those waiting in the cell phone lot now have access to tasty local food.

TSA suggests that passengers arrive two hours early to get through security. But come 2020, Sea-Tac travelers may want to allow some extra time for feasting on fried chicken and shopping for wool coats, too.
