The next exhibition to open at the Museum of Glass will be Preston Singletary: Raven and the Box of Daylight, a unique multi-sensory experience that will guide visitors through the fantastical journey of the Raven. Like generations of Tlingit children, artist Preston Singletary heard of the Raven’s adventures as a child through the oral tradition that has kept Tlingit culture alive. Singletary honors that culture by respectfully intertwining Northwest Native imagery with his mastery of European glassblowing, both of which define the coming exhibition.
Raven and the Box of Daylight shares the story of the trickster Raven through recordings of story tellers and original music in four immersive environments, which progressively communicate a transformation from darkness to light.
The exhibition opens Oct. 3 will be on display through Oct. 2019. An opening celebration will take place at the Museum of Glass on Oct. 6.
