The team behind Maxwell’s Speakeasy & Restaurant announced that they were closing the restaurant immediately on Jan. 16. But, there’s hope that Maxwell’s former owners, Steve and Anna Anderson, will open a new restaurant in Maxwell’s space in spring 2016.

Maxwell’s originally opened in 2008.  Steve and Anna Anderson and their business partners sold Maxwell’s to the Tarantino family in April 2015. Last fall the restaurant was closed for roughly two months due to water damage.  Then, last week the Tarantino family took to Facebook to officially announce the restaurant’s permanent closure.

“It is with great sadness that Maxwell’s will be closed effective immediately!” the message reads. “Due to many external factors beyond our control, has led to this unfortunate decision. We would like to thank all of our guests that have been so faithful, you have meant the world to us. With abundant gratitude from the Tarantino family.”

On Jan. 18, Steve and Anna Anderson released the following statement on the future of the space.

“It looks like we are getting our restaurant back,” said the Andersons. “For now, the restaurant will remain closed, while we consider the options; one being a new concept that would reopen in spring.”

We will update this post with more information as it becomes available. Stay tuned!
