Cassie Hanson from Dae Planner and I were honored to co-host a spring soiree — for ladies celebrating ladies! Our guests were a talented group of South Sound women business owners and creatives. It was a dream to design a beautiful brunch to kick off a fresh season.
To set the tone before the event, East Avenue Press created a spectacular watercolor invitation suite for our guests, and the theme continued throughout the event, with pretty menus, name cards, and stunning art. Our guests were styled by Brooke Svanda of Suburban Girl Boutique, so they felt stylish and beautiful for the special day.
To get this party started, Hanson and I transformed the Studio 305 space in downtown Tacoma into a spring oasis for brunching, mingling, and sipping. The space was designed to be light and airy with colors, textures, food, florals, and cocktails to celebrate spring and the ladies.
The guest table was filled with candles, cactus flower, aloe, and jade scents.
When it came time to brunch, Gayle Orth Catering created the most exquisite spread. The attention to detail was like delicious art. Floral pressed cookies and botanical bark were the perfect sweet treats to end the celebration.
The biggest impact was the incredible balloon installations designed by Confete Party Box. The custom colors complemented our decor perfectly.
There were gorgeous florals throughout the space, including a floral wall, arrangements that filled the tables, and even a bouquet bar for our guests to design their own bouquet to take home. In addition to their bouquet, guests received curated gift boxes.
The Brunch Menu
Little croissants filled with egg salad, topped with fresh herbs.
Passion fruit and coconut cream parfaits.
Miniature brie bites with a myriad of toppings, including seasonal fresh fruits and berries.
Mini lemon ricotta pancake stacks with fresh berries, lemon curd, and mint.
We wanted to mix up the typical brunch mimosa and went to Heritage Distillery in Gig Harbor for their classic cocktail recipes. Our favorites were the Gin and the Giant Peach and the Cherry Old-Fashioned Smash with bourbon.
Cherry Old-Fashioned Smash
In a shaker, muddle two cherries and then add:
2 ounces HDC Dual Barrel Old Fashioned Ready Bourbon,
1½ ounces cherry simple syrup,
and 2 dashes of orange bitters.
Gin and the Giant Peach
In a shaker, combine:
½ ounces RAFT grenadine
½ ounce lemon juice
½ ounce Elk Rider Crisp Gin
1½ ounces Heritage Distilling Co. peach vodka
Add ice, shake, and mesh strain into a cocktail goblet. Garnish with a lemon twist. Recipe courtesy of Heritage Distilling Co.
Shake, and pour into a glass. Top with club soda, and garnish with two pitted cherries and an orange peel twist. Recipe courtesy of Heritage Distilling Co.
We are so very blessed and lucky to be involved in this community where ladies celebrate ladies and talent and creativity are in abundance.
