From the pastel pink double doors to the crisp white tables, everything inside the Hello, Cupcake store is Instagram-worthy.
The Tacoma bakery specializes in what might be inferred from their business name — cupcakes! Aside from the traditional vanilla and chocolate flavors, the company also makes cupcakes that include red velvet, chocolate peanut butter, carrot cake, and salted caramel. This year Hello, Cupcake introduced a tiramisu flavor, which owner Allix Zemcik said is currently the most popular.
“Every cupcake we make is created with meticulous attention to detail, and we’re uncompromising when it comes to quality,” Zemcik said. “We start with high-quality, fresh ingredients and make our cupcakes from scratch and by hand every single morning. We’re constantly re-evaluating our recipes and methods and implementing changes based on customer feedback. We only have one product, and we’re dedicated to making it the best it can be.”
Zemcik worked in the bakery, which opened in 2007, for four years prior to purchasing the business from the previous owner. At the time, she was 26 years old and wasn’t sure if she was ready to take on a business alone. However, when other buyers became interested, she knew she was way too passionate about the brand to let the opportunity slip through her fingers.
“The words that come to mind when I think about are brand are simple, elegant, delicious, joyful, nostalgic, and fun,” she said. “Our goal is to create memorably positive experiences for our customers through beautiful, delicious cupcakes and the highest level of customer service.”
Zemcik only sees up from here, and hopes to add a delivery truck to the business soon to allow the company to increase order capacity for large and small deliveries.
“Tacoma is going through a lot of growth, and I want Hello, Cupcake to continue to be the go-to spot for delicious cupcakes,” Zemcik said.
