Start the season off right with a trip (or two) to the Puyallup Fair! The fun begins Sept. 7 with the Western Rodeo Parade through downtown Puyallup and continues through Sept. 23. There are great deals this opening weekend, with free admission on opening day until noon with a donation to the Fair Food Drive, and free admission for kids all weekend with an online coupon. Washington State’s biggest fair is also better than ever, with new exhibits the whole family will love, including the captivating “Our Body: The Universe Within” educational exhibit and the “Rainforest Adventure Journey to the Tropics” zip-line ride. Also new to the fair is a fireworks display, going off at 10pm every Friday.

Whether you’re there for the rodeo or the Dizzy Pass bracelet, don’t miss special events like the Do the Puyallup Walk to Beat Breast Cancer on Sept. 22 or the Animals of the World exhibit, showing from Sept. 19-23. This year’s fair also boasts a star-studded concert lineup, with something for everyone from Willie Nelson to Enrique Iglesias. Additional trips might just be necessary to see all of your fair favorites, like the baby animals at the 4-H displays, Hobby Hall and the various art exhibits, and of course the free entertainment throughout the day. Make sure to get in line early for a fair scone, and a bring a hungry friend to share an Earthquake Burger, with heaps of those onions!
