Get Classic, Everyday Looks at New 27 West in DuPont

27 West, in Dupont, will host its grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 14. The new shop features casual clothing curated for easy, timeless looks with an effortless style, as well as a variety of handcrafted goods by locally sourced vendors.

Although, the 27 West brand was created over three years ago by owner, and military spouse, Stephanie Curnow, this marks the company’s first brick and mortar storefront.

What started as an online shop, with pop-up shows at various holiday and special venues located throughout several military-related moves within the U.S., the store is a welcome addition to the vibrant service-member connected DuPont and surrounding area communities.

As a mom of two small children, Curnow is no stranger to hard work and dedication. She also has a degree in business administration, with a concentration in aviation business. Her last job was as an airport duty manager at Sea-Tac International Airport.

After she and her husband won the Main Street Grant from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, where her active-duty spouse attended, they were able to make their goal of opening up the store a reality.

The community has been overwhelmingly supportive and aligns with Curnow’s core values.

“I believe in community over competition, and supporting other businesses,” Curnow said. “The DuPont community has been so helpful and enthusiastic. We’re really excited to be here.”

Curnow feels very passionate about supporting and empowering women, and especially military spouses, who have a much higher unemployment rate than the national average.

To create the classic everyday looks you will find within her boutique, the Los Angeles native carefully chooses pieces from apparel markets based on the fit, feel, and quality of the merchandise, as well as keeping things affordable. This includes spending time at such markets as those within the LA Fashion District, the Atlanta Apparel Market, and the Magic Market, in Las Vegas.

“Although we do have some trendy styles, our clothing is more casual, everyday wear. Simple, capsule pieces that can be put together, and mixed and matched easily,” Curnow said. “Looks that can be quick, and comfortable, but still look and feel put together.”

Along with women’s clothing, jewelry, purses, scarves, and footwear, local vendors that fit well with the 27 West Brand are also featured in-store. This includes beautifully crafted wooden signs and other gift items by Mama with a Paintbrush and artisan soaps, candles, and skincare products by The Willow Tree Co.

Curnow said she is excited to partner with Wear Blue: Run to Remember, a non-profit which honors the service and sacrifice of the U.S. military in a variety of ways through their running community. By selling its trademark merchandise within the store, a large portion of sales gets donated back to the organization that has one of its active anchor communities in the PNW, Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Curnow plans to continue championing for charitable causes by offering Sip n’ Shop events for private groups of 10 or more. Guests will have the boutique all to themselves for an intimate shopping experience, with a certain percentage of sales going directly to the charity of their choice. Details for booking such an event will be updated on the website soon.

Stop by 27 West for its grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The first 27 guests making a purchase will receive an exclusive swag bag with some exciting specialty items from 27 West and its featured vendors. Face coverings required for entry into the store.
