Franke Tobey Jones Announces Call-For-Artists for 2021 Senior Art Show

Franke Tobey Jones, a senior community in Tacoma’s West End, has announced a call-for-artists for its 2021 Senior Art Show. The event — held Friday, Oct. 15, through Sunday, Oct. 17, in the M.J. Wicks Wellness Center — will feature a collection of works across various mediums by artists aged 55 or above, all curated by Heide Fernandez-Llamazares.

Fernandez-Llamazares currently serves as the My Public Art Portal Project Manager for the Washington State Arts Commission. She will be joined by a panel of jurors, including Elise Richman, artist and professor of art at the University of Puget Sound; Allison Hyde, arts coordinator at the City of Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation; and Lynn Di Nino, 2017 recipient of Washington State Governor’s “Artist of the Year” Award.

Prizes will be awarded by the panel during an opening reception (Oct. 14) to first, second, and third-place honorees. Additional Honorable Mentions and People’s Choice awards also may be granted.

Artists interested in submitting original artwork created within the last three years can apply via Franke Tobey Jones’ online application by Wednesday, June 30.
