This weekend in Gig Harbor, get a different take on the drive-in movie and head to the airport for an outdoor movie.
Saturday, Aug. 27, is the inaugural Fly In, Drive In Movie at the Tacoma Narrows Airport. Fittingly, the movie screened will be Disney’s Planes.
Before the screening, check out some real-life planes up close. The award-winning Juranich Family collection of restored vintage aircraft will be open for viewers.
“My plane restorations are a labor of love. I’m always delighted to show them and talk about them,” said Bob Juranich, owner.
If cars are more your thing, the LeMay Family Collection Foundation will have vintage 1930s vehicles on display.
Tickets for the movie are $5 per person and can be purchased online. They include ice cream, drinks, and popcorn. The pizza, wine, and beer is for purchase. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will start around 8 p.m. Proceeds from the film will benefit the Friends of the Tacoma Narrows Airport.
“This airport is such an amazing asset to the Gig Harbor and South Sound communities. Events like the Fly In Drive In Movie will enable us to do more to enhance our airport,” said Larry Fickel, President of the Friends group. “Having an event that attracts airplane buffs, car buffs, and film buffs, is very exciting.”
The Fly In Drive In Movie is presented by the Friends of the Tacoma Narrows Airport and the Gig Harbor Film Festival.
