Feel Good Friday: Cider, Video Games, and Museums

Visit Olympia’s Lattin’s Cider Mill & Farm

Every weekend is a good one to visit this Thurston County gem. Here, the apple fritters are warm, the pies are plentiful, the farm animals are cute, and the cider comes in all kinds of fruity flavors. Bring your camera and your appetite. The Apple Festival begins Sept. 26 and continues every weekend through the end of October.

Play New Video Games

PAX — Seattle’s biggest gaming convention — is now streaming through Sunday, Sept. 20. See interviews with top game makers and play demos of the hottest new games coming this holiday season. You won’t need to wait in long lines or spend a dime. Check out some of our favorite games to try out here.

Auburn MultiCare Nurse is Honored

As a little girl growing up in Southern California, Mary Sanchez saw a nurse dressed in a starched, white uniform and a cool matching cap. From that day on, Mary knew she wanted to be a nurse. The road to nursing was a long one, however. Read more about her journey and why she earned the award here.

Get Moving for a Good Cause

Several annual walks and runs have gone virtual. The St. Jude Walk/Run, set for Sept. 26, is no different. Sign the whole family up here. So far, the event has raised $119,266 to help fight and cure childhood cancer. The goal is $130,000.

Tacoma’s Museums are Reopening

We’ve missed lazy afternoons at the Museum of Glass hot shop, the beauty displayed at the Tacoma Art Museum, and learning something new at the Washington State History Museum. Several museums making up the Tacoma Museum District will be opening as soon as Sept. 25. Read more here.
