A farmers market is coming to DuPont. This will be the first time the city has had its own farmers market — which will open Thursday, June 3, from 3-7 p.m. at Clocktower Park. The market will run through Sept. 2.
With a number of annual events canceled throughout 2020, farmers markets have become even more meaningful to communities.
“Having a farmers market has been one of the top requested events for years,” Erin Gowenlock, the city’s tourism and communications coordinator said. “We haven’t always had the time or resources to invest in it, until this year. We are incredibly excited.”
Shoppers will be treated to a number of locally sourced fresh produce options along with small-batch vendors and hand-crafted artisan goods.
A variety of food trucks will be on hand, as well, and local celebrity Ray Conn will be performing live music for marketgoers.
If Pierce County remains in an appropriate phase, the market will be followed by Concerts in the Park, featuring additional local artists and live performers beginning at 7 p.m.
“Not only is Clocktower Park a beautiful green grassy location, it’s right within a neighborhood and people can easily walk from their homes,” Gowenlock said. “We are so happy to be able to bring the community together again, and build up those relationships again, and support our local food industry.”
Clocktower Park is located at 1401 Palisade Blvd., DuPont.
