Enter a Coloring Contest, Give Back

We’ve been hearing for the past five years or so about the creative and mental benefits of coloring for adults — and right now, you can reap all those rewards while also supporting your community and potentially cashing in yourself. How? A coloring contest run by OBee Credit Union.

Through the Washington State Color-for-Cash contest, OBee hopes to draw attention to the huge increase in demand that food banks across the state have seen in light of the COVID-19 crisis. Entering the contest — which people can do by choosing from six Washington-inspired coloring pages — gives participants the change to win one of six cash prizes, from $250 to $750. In turn, OBee also will match the awards by donating $3,000 each to Pierce County and Thurston County Food Banks.

“The benefits of adult coloring books have been well established,” Lee Wojnar, vice president of marketing at OBee Credit Union said in a statement. “Coloring has been shown to have a relaxing and calming effect on the brain. We’re not expecting a Picasso, we are just encouraging people to take a break from the distractions of these difficult times to calm their brains. As an incentive, we’re giving cash prizes too.”

Contest winners will be chosen randomly on June 1 at noon, when the contest officially closes. The contest is open to participants as of 1 p.m. today. Terms, conditions, and instructions to enter can be found at www.obee.com/color.
