Couture in Tacoma

It doesn’t get much sexier than when hot fashion meets hot cars on a hot summer night. The second-annual Couture & Cars Fashion Show will sizzle as six Northwest clothing designers are highlighted during the event at LeMay — America’s Car Museum on July 21 in Tacoma.

When the doors open at 6:30 p.m., attendees will get in the groove as a DJ plays music. They can sip cocktails and of course pose for their own red carpet photos before the show. Models will strut their stuff and display the talents of: Chany Venturini, Dawnamatrix, Designs by Thor, Heidi Fish Swimwear, Lisa Marie Couture, and Sovannary En Couture. Accessory designers Annxannxdesign and Namiko Abloom also will be featured.

In its second year, Couture & Cars is the flagship event for Fashion District NW, the company producing it.

“The cars featured in the LeMay— America’s Car Museum are works of art, amazing pieces of craftsmanship, many with very unique and sleek design lines. What a great place to feature the designs of amazing couture designers, then surround their clothing designs with cars that share some of the same visual features,” said David Bailey of Fashion District NW. “This is the only couture-only fashion show in the region. (Also) a museum full of beautiful cars helps us attract more men to this fashion show then other shows.”

Fashion District NW is expecting about 400 people this year, and is already looking to the future. “We want this to be an event that the Northwest fashion community embraces,” Bailey said. “We want this to be an event that the City of Tacoma can embrace as a ‘can’t-miss event of the year.’ We hope that this continues for the next decade.”
