An Expert’s Guide to Valentine’s Day in Seattle

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, but have you made plans for you and your significant other yet? If not, don’t worry — we are here to help you figure out the perfect Valentine’s date on short notice.

Jacob Uitti, a Seattle writer and food lover, has helped us find some of the most unique and delicious places to take your date on Feb. 14. Uitti’s writing has appeared in The Washington Post, The Seattle Times, and Interview, among others. He is also the author of Unique Eats and Eateries of Seattle and 100 Things to Do in Seattle Before You Die.

Here are the places Uitti says you can’t miss on Valentine’s Day:

Can Can Culinary Cabaret

The Can Can Culinary Cabaret tops Uitti’s list as No. 1. He described the eatery as, “A small underground meticulous cabaret theater in Pike Place.”

The Can Can has great food along with amazing shows. All shows are hosted by Can Can’s co-owner, Jonathan Betchtel, who brings a touch of magic to each performance. This Parisian-style cabaret will provide you with an unforgettable date and amazing food. If you can’t make it for Valentine’s day, be sure to check out the cabaret’s seasonal shows year-round.

The Wandering Goose

“The Wandering Goose is an excellent biscuit place — perfect for breakfast after Valentine’s Day,” Uitti raved. The Wandering Goose is a great southern-inspired eatery located off of 15th Street in Capitol Hill.

The shot-gun shape that Uitti describes as long, rectangular, and decorated in southern charm, provides a cozy atmosphere. They serve up biscuit sandwiches, fried chicken with gravy, and southern-inspired baked goods.  “It’s great to have a Valentine’s Day sleepover and then head to Capitol Hill to get brunch the next day,” Uitti suggested.

Bakery Nouveau

Bakery Nouveau is a French bakery that has multiple locations in the Seattle area. You can stop at one of it’s storefronts to pick up some sweets for your date (or even as a gift to yourself).

“Bakery Nouveau is a quintessential place to buy sweets for your sweet,” Uitti laughed. They are known as one of the best bakeries in Seattle and always have a line going out the door.

Revel is a great place to take your date if you’re looking for a high-end and elegant dinner. The Korean restaurant serves up traditional comfort food. Their space is beautifully decorated and will provide you with an intimate atmosphere.

“If you have the short rib dumplings, you will fall in love,” Uitti said. This spot holds a special place in Uitti’s heart since this was the place he and his fiancée went on their first date. He told us that you may even have a long-lasting relationship like him if you spend the holiday here.
