A Different Kind of Fourth

We’ve known for many months now that Fourth of July celebrations this year would look very different from years past. Fourth of July events have been canceled across the state, and families are encouraged to celebrate safely from their homes while still maintaining social distancing.

The T-Town Family 4th festival, which annually attracts more than 100,000 visitors to Tacoma’s Ruston Way waterfront, has been postponed, however, rather than canceled. As of press time, a new date had yet to be finalized, with the festival working jointly with the City of Tacoma and Metro Parks to determine a time when current restrictions have been lifted and a large gathering is deemed safe.
