3 to See: Week of May 22

Arrested: Escape Fort Nisqually

Historic Preservation Month is still going strong with its latest event, Arrested: Escape Fort Nisqually. From May 23 through 25, visitors to the Fort Nisqually Living History Museum will race against the clock to help recover Hudson Bay Company’s secrets before they are swept up in the territorial police’s evidence hunt. Tickets are available online.

Hazy Beer Competition

What’s better than watching a beer competition where local brewers showcase their haziest brews? Helping to judge a beer competition where local brewers showcase their haziest brews, of course. Beginning at 3 p.m. on May 25 at the Harmon Taproom in Tacoma, join 12 of the Pacific Northwest’s best brewers — including McMennamins, Rainy Daze Brewing, Narrows Brewing, Odd Otter, and more — to decide who will go home with the belt. Literally. The grand prize is an actual wrestling belt.

Special Family Camp

It isn’t too late to sign up for Special Family Camp this weekend at Camp Sealth on Vashon Island. From May 25 through 27, families that have kids or adults with special needs are invited to experience a camp-like setting in an inclusive and understanding environment. Spend your Memorial Day Weekend with your loved ones while they try their hand at camping activities, such as archery, boating, fishing, arts and crafts, hiking, pony rides, and bicycle riding (on adaptive bikes if needed). Register online.
