Broadway Farmers Market

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — farmers market season is once again upon us. Come out to the Broadway Farmers Market for opening day beginning at 10 a.m. this Thursday and get all your favorite local produce and wares. Stick around and have lunch from a selection of local vendors and listen as local radio station KNKX hosts popular band Junkyard Jane from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A full list of vendors can be found online.

South Sound Small Business Summit

From 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, head over to the STAR Center in Tacoma for the South Sound Small Business Summit. This year’s speakers include Margo Myers of Margo Meyers Communication on how to influence the conversation, Character Development Coach Travis Daigle on failure as a necessary means to success, and Bryan Reynolds of Anthem Coffee and Wine Bar on building a healthy team culture through heroic hospitality. Historic Homes of Tacoma Tour

This weekend, the City of Tacoma is kicking off its Historic Preservation Month event series with the 25th annual Historic Homes of Tacoma Tour on May 4 and 5. Wear your walking shoes and gather at the Central Lutheran Church before embarking on a self-guided tour of several local historical homes. Tickets are $25 and available online through Eventbrite.

History Pub: Prison Break – McNeil Island Escapes

If you haven’t been to the newly opened McMenamins Elks Temple yet, what better reason to visit than this history event presented by the Washington State History Museum. Grab a pint and join the museum’s lead curator Gwen Whiting as she recounts the many behind-the-scenes visits she made to McNeil Island while cultivating the museum’s Unlocking McNeil’s Past exhibit.
