3 to See: Week of June 6

Line Dance Thursday

Looking for something to do tonight? Consider learning a little something new while also getting in a little cardio. Bring your beau or your kids out to Steel Creek Tacoma for one of its weekly line dancing classes. From 8 to 9 p.m., instructors will present an easy-to-follow pace that is perfect for beginners or experts alike. Then, stick around to show off your new skills during the venue’s country party. Lessons are $5 per person and include your first drink.

Sound to Narrows

Memorial Day might seem like the beginning of the summer season, but for runners, the season hasn’t officially started until the annual Sound to Narrows event on June 8. Now in its 47th year, this highly anticipated event offers 12k or 5k route options for adults and a 2k junior shuffle for the younger set. Hurry and register online for this event before it leaves you in the dust.

Tacoma Ocean Fest

Want to get your kiddos excited about protecting our oceans? Bring your brood out to the Tacoma Ocean Fest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Sunday, June 9, at Foss Waterway Seaport to celebrate oceans and learn about the pollutants that threaten them. Exhibits will include interactive art, music, dance, film, poetry, virtual reality, talks, paddle tryouts, food trucks, and more.
