3 to See: Week of Aug. 29

Run the Puyallup

We all know one of the best things about the Washington State Fair in Puyallup is the food: funnel cakes, corn dogs, turkey legs, and let’s not forget about the much-anticipated Fisher fair scones. Get a jump start on the increased caloric intake by running the Puyallup, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 31. Proceeds from the 2.67-mile course will go to support the Washington State Fair Foundation.

A Celebration for the End of Summer

Have you ever wanted to see a polar bear enjoy watermelon ice treats? Or would you like to watch meerkats and lemurs play with beach balls? This Labor Day Weekend, the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is throwing one last summer party with all your favorite critters. Festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Tickets available online or at the gate.

Coffee with the Chief

Whether you have a teenager considering a career in law enforcement, or you’re just a curious citizen, join Kent Police Department Chief Rafael Padilla and his staff for a cup of coffee and an informal chat. From 8 to 9 a.m. on Thursday Sept. 5, gather at the McDonald’s on Southeast 256th Street in Kent for this free event. Drip coffee will be provided.
