Food Truck Marketplace Opens This Friday

Chowtown, a semi-permanent collection of food carts, like the pods that have so infamously become synonymous with the Portland lunch crowd, will launch a three-day soft opening beginning Friday, Aug. 2. During the event, food trucks, live music, outdoor games, and more will be available to visitors from noon to 9 p.m. at 1602 S. Mildred Street. Read more online.

Olympia Brew Fest

What is better than an icy-cold brew on a hot summer day? Several icy-cold brews on a hot summer day, courtesy of more than 30 Northwest breweries handpicked for the Thurston Chamber Foundation’s 8th annual Olympia Brew Fest. From 1 to 8:30 p.m. this Saturday. Come out to Port Plaza, where $30 will get individuals aged 21 or older admission to the event, a souvenir mug, and a choice of six tastings. Teen ‘Star Wars’-Themed Escape Room

Ever feel like your teens’ brains start to rot over the summer? Engage their minds and bodies by challenging them to solve a series of puzzles and riddles in a game of strategy. The Pierce County Library System is hosting a series of pop culture-themed summer escape rooms for teens, grades sixthrough 12. This Wednesday, journey to the Parkland/Spanaway branch (at 3 p.m.) or the Lakewood branch (at 3:30 p.m.) for a Star Wars-inspired puzzle.
