Star Wars Comes to TAM

Colin Cantwell, the original concept artist for all things that flew in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, will present his original concept art and models for designs of the X-Wing, the Millennium Falcon, the Death Star, and much more. From 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 14, the Tacoma Art Museum will host a discussion with Cantwell and his partner, Sierra Dall. Afterward, Cantwell will be available for pictures and autographs. Costumes are encouraged, although replica weapons will not be allowed inside. 

11th Annual Santa Runs Tacoma

Join in on a Tacoma tradition during Frosty’s 5K, Scrooge’s 10K, or Donner and Blitzen’s 21K &relay this year. Additionally, kids 12 and younger can participate in Tiny Tim’s 1K, and parents can accompany them with no extra cost. Nourish Pierce County will be there accepting donations to feed the hungry during the holidays. Don’t forget to dress warm — races begin between 8:30 and 10:15 a.m. on Dec. 14, between A Street and 10th Street.

Grammy-Winning Artist Jason Vieaux at Olympia Ballroom

Emerald City Music’s co-founder and artistic director Kristin Lee and Grammy-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux will share the stage at The Olympia Ballroom during an intimate evening of violin and guitar music spanning many genres and nationalities. Together, Lee and Vieaux will perform a variety of songs, including Niccolò Paganini’s Cantabile and Astor Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tangobeginning at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 14.
