3 to See: Ocean Fest, a Painting Workshop, and a Museum Reopening

Ocean Fest

Tacoma Ocean Fest is still on for this year. But in light of COVID-19 concerns, 2020 festivities will all be happening online. The free, all-day festival is set for Sunday, Sept. 13 and is slated to include remote tours, music and dance video premieres, OceanX Zoom talks, virtual Eco-Booths, games, DIY projects, and more. Head to the festival website for more information.

Painting Workshop

All ages are welcome to join artist Stacey Rodell at the Timber Court Art Studio CRE8 Café in Lacey to learn how to create a “tree ring” acrylic pour painting this month. Sessions are scheduled for Sept. 16 and Sept. 19. Sanitization, social distancing, and other COVID-19 regulations will be followed. Get ticket information here

LeMay Collections at Marymount Reopening

The famous Tacoma museum and event center recently announced that after several months of closure due to COVID-19, it is reopening this Saturday, Sept. 12, with adjusted coronavirus-compliant operations in place. The event center features more than 500 vintage vehicles and memorabilia to browse; self-guided tours will start every 15 minutes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with guided tours happening at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. The first 50 museum patrons will receive a goodie bag. An open-air bazaar will also be held over the weekend to celebrate the grand reopening. Go to the LeMay Collections website for more information.
