Fear on the Pier
Have a marine Halloween this year with the Marine Science and Technology Center during its free Halloween festival. Help assemble marine mammal skeletons and inspect some of the creepiest underwater specimens known to humanity. Dress in your best costume and watch divers compete in an underwater pumpkin carving contest. Event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 26 at the MaST Center.
Pumpkin Train Ride
If you’re looking for a departure from the usual pumpkin patch experience, consider letting the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad Museum whisk you away to enjoy tasty treats, pick your own pumpkin, and experience a memorable train ride from Chehalis to Centralia. Concessions will be available in the depot prior to departure, and goody bags will be given out on the train before pumpkin picking. Departures range from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 26 and 27 at the museum.
Elks Temple Halloween Party
Ditch the kiddie Halloween party scene and celebrate the spooky season in costume at the McMenamins Elks Temple in Tacoma. Dance the night away in the ballroom during a themed ’80s Video Attack or roam the bars before competing in the evening’s costume contest. The event runs from 9 p.m. to midnight, Oct. 26 at the McMenamins Elks Temple. The event is 21 and over with a $10 cover.
