3 to See: Cider Tasting, a Scavenger Hunt, and Painting for Kids

Cider Swig

Gig Harbor’s seventh Cider Swig will be a little different this year. Repurposed as a drive-thru event, the 2020 Cider Swig will center around festival to-go kits made up of locally made cider for patrons to try. Pick up a tasting kit Saturday, Sept. 26, at LeMay — America’s Car Museum or Sunday, Sept. 27, in the IMAX parking lot in Gig Harbor. Food vendors like Boss Mama’s Kitchen and BBQ2U will be stationed at both pickup sites, too. Proceeds will benefit the Lu Winsor Environmental Grants program. Browse kit options and find more information on the Cider Swig webpage.

Beyond the Backyard

In an effort to encourage families to get out of the house (and support housing justice programs), the Tacoma-Pierce County Habitat for Humanity is hosting a scavenger hunt fundraiser. Beyond the Backyard is a race through pandemic-friendly competitions; categories include physical, skill, and find. After a team registers and raises a pledge amount for Habitat for Humanity, it will get instructions on an app and embark on a couple dozen challenges from Saturday, Sept. 26 through Monday, Sept. 28. Learn more and sign up here.

Unicorn Kids Paint Night

Payette’s School of Dance and the Country Collective will help kids have fun with paint at the Unicorn Creation Station this Friday, Sept. 25, and Saturday, Sept. 26. Payette’s School of Dance encourages kids to express themselves with art events at the Creation Station. Participants are encouraged to deck themselves out in paint-friendly clothes. Register and check out details here.
