3 to See: Day Camp, 50 Miles Challenge, and Night Market

Day Camp at the Fort

Next week, Fort Nisqually is holding its all-ages day camp. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., campers can experience the world in 1855. Stories, songs, crafts, and games bring the past to the present at this living history museum. Campers ages six and up are required to wear face masks, and children ages three to five are also strongly encouraged to wear masks. You can register here.

Virtual 50 Miles Challenge

Spend August and September running, walking, or biking the distance of famous bridges around the world. For the 80th anniversary of the Galloping Gertie’s collapse, the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor North is sponsoring a 50 miles virtual challenge from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30. Complete 50 miles of running, walking, or biking between these dates and you will have traveled the distance of 18 famous bridges. For the past 10 years, the Rotary Club has held a 5K, 10K, and half-marathon across the Narrows Bridge as a fundraiser for youth programs here and around the world. While participants won’t be racing together this year, their contribution still helps the community. Learn more and register for the challenge here.

Friday Night Market

Get out of your house and into town this Friday evening at the Puyallup Friday Night Market. The market includes five local and handmade businesses to peruse from 7-9 p.m. Socially distancing and masks are both required at this event. Check out the Facebook event for more information.
