3 to See: A Halloween Scavenger Hunt at the Zoo, Free Bike Lights, and a Virtual Celebration of Women

Pumpkin Days at Point Defiance

From Oct. 24-31, families who visit the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium are encouraged to dress up in their costumes and participate in a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt. The zoo will be decked out in spooky decor; participants should expect to see an animal or two playing with pumpkins. More information can be found here.

Cheers for Women

Join the Washington State Historical Society to celebrate the Year of the Woman with a virtual happy hour, History After Hours, on Thursday, Oct. 29. In addition to a mixology lesson with Bryn Quarles of Artusi in Seattle, the Zoom event includes postcard collage crafting with women’s suffrage images, live music from Kim Archer, and presentations from Humanities Washington. Tickets include the Zoom link, two History After Hours glasses, collage crafting materials, and more goodies. Register and find out more here.

Light Up Your Ride

The transportation advocates at Downtown On the Go and outdoor enthusiasts at Campfire Coffee are reminding bicyclists to prepare for dreary weather and early darkness by handing out bike lights. On Thursday, Oct. 29, at Tacoma’s Campfire Coffee Co. (1554 Market Street, #101), grab a free bicycle light and learn more about staying safe and active this winter from the Pierce Transit Outreach Team. See details on the Facebook event page here.
