Halloween Happenings

If you haven’t had a chance to schedule your Halloween activities and are in a panic about where to take the kids (or yourself), worry no more. The South Sound offers a variety of events and activities certain to entertain residents of all ages. From haunted houses and trick-or-treating to Halloween dancing and more, the South Sound is a Halloween haven for those in a pinch about where to go on All Hallow’s Eve.

Halloween at the W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory

Celebrate the holiday at Metro Parks’ beautiful W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory in Tacoma, during their Halloween Open House on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 3:30pm to 7pm. Kids will enjoy a non-spooky reading by Bonnie Beaudoin, a fun themed craft, a bean bag toss, witches brew and cookies, and a every flavor jelly bean tasting. Admission is $3 at the door, and the event is fun for the whole family.

Halloween Dance and Live Music at Tacoma’s Studio 6 Ballroom

Maia Santell and House Blend provide the beat for this Halloween themed dance. With a variety of music including classic Halloween favorites, $10 admission gets you hours of dancing, costume fun, and more. Guests wanting to fuel up before the dance can join the “Zombie Walk” and a restaurant tour and dinner. Tickets for the “Zombie Walk” are available for purchase in advance by visiting Studio 6 Ballroom. Dancing and music starts at 7pm on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Trick-or-Treating in Downtown Gig Harbor

Kids will enjoy trick-or-treating through scenic downtown Gig Harbor on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 3pm-6pm. With a full line-up of events, Halloween in the Harbor is the perfect destination for family fun. Enjoy a “spooktacular” surprise at Skansie Park, Halloween photos for $5 under the pavillion, and Harbor WildWatch’s Spooky Touch Tanks at the Jerisich Dock and more.

Olympia’s Haunted Schmidt House

Tour a “real” haunted house on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 1pm-4pm, at Olympia’s haunted Schmidt House. Built in 1904 for Olympia Brewing Company founder Leopold F. Schmidt, it is now said that his ghost haunts the premises. Just in time for Halloween, enjoy a free tour of this haunted home. Time stamped tickets available at the door, with tours of 12 beginning at 1pm.
