Pirates of Penzance like You've Never Heard It

Dawn Padula and her vocal students at the University of Puget Sound are donning their tricornered hats and black boots as they prepare to mount The Pirates of Penzance. The Gilbert and Sullivan classic has been an audience favorite since 1879, and Padula, who says the work was ahead of its time, chose it for its comical librettos.
Padula will direct the operetta, with members of the Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra conducted by assistant professor of music Gerard Morris. Denes Van Prys, adjunct affiliate in the School of Music, provided musical preparation.
The Pirates of Penzance will be performed nightly at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 9-11 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12 at the Schneebeck Concert Hall at the University. $12.50 for general admission; $8.50 for seniors, non-Puget Sound students, military and Puget Sound faculty and staff; $5 for current Puget Sound students. For tickets, order here or call (253) 879-3419.
