To Our Military Community

First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden have a mission: to mobilize all sectors of society to give our military personnel and their families the opportunities they well deserve.

The Museum of Glass is one of 1,5000 institutions participating in this Joining Forces Initiative by way of the Blue Star Museums program: providing free admission to active-duty military from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

And from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. August 24, Tacoma’s iconic museum will host a celebration of the Initiative--just one of six museums from around the country to do so.

The day’s lineup:
• Opening with a presentation of colors by a military color guard
• Remarks by dignitaries including Museum of Glass Director Tim Close, Debra Entenman from U.S. Congressman Adam Smith’s Office and Army Colonel Dr. Diane M. Flynn, Chief of the Department of Pain Management at Madigan Military Hospital
• Participation in glass fusing workshops and docent-led tours of the Hot Shop and galleries

We too thank military families from Joint Base Lewis-McChord!
